Did your study abroad experience influence your academic or career interests? If so, how?

My study abroad experience did not influence my career interest, instead it is the other way around. I decided to study abroad because I had an interest in becoming fluent in Spanish in order to better serve patients within the healthcare industry. There are many Spanish-speaking residents who are sometimes unable to access or communicate their medical needs because of the language barrier between patients and healthcare provider. As a bilingual nurse I aspire to bridge the gap that has been forged between the two parties.
